Almighty ever-living God, who sent your Son into the world to drive out from us the power of Satan, the spirit of evil, and bring the human race, rescued from darkness, into the marvelous Kingdom of your light: we humbly beseech you to free these children from Original Sin, to make them the temple of your glory, and to grant that your Holy Spirit may dwell in them. Through Christ our Lord.

Steps for Holy Baptism
For adults 18 years and older, enroll in OCIA.
For children 7 to 17 years of age, enroll them in Hook & Net by contacting Megan Matthew at mmatthew@assumptiondenver.org.
For infants and children under the age of 7:
-
Baptisms are celebrated typically as a rule on the 3rd Sunday of every month immediately after the 10:30am Mass (although there are instances in which this is subject to change, so please call or email to make arrangements).
-
Parents & godparents must attend a Baptismal preparation class. The parish hosts these in January, March, May, July, September, and November. The class runs from 10am to noon. Please call the parish office to register for the class.
-
All canonical paperwork, including a copy of your child's birth certificate must be complete and turned in 2 weeks prior to the celebration of Holy Baptism.
-
You are encouraged to choose two godparents (only one godfather and one godmother). Godparents stand as a representative of the Catholic Church at Baptism and provide parents with support in raising their children in the Catholic faith. Those with only one godparent are permitted to choose a non-Catholic Christian to serve as a Christian witness. According to canon law, godparents, without exception, must be:
-
over 16 years old
-
not the parents of the person to be baptized
-
have received Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
